What it is

The confirmation statement (form CS01) confirms that the information Companies House holds about the company is correct: registered office, officers, people with significant control, SIC codes, share capital and shareholders.

It replaced the annual return in 2016. It confirms, rather than updates, most changes should be filed as they happen.

Timing and fee

Due at least once every twelve months, within 14 days of the end of the review period. The fee is £34 online, and you can file more than once a year at no extra cost within the same payment period.

Companies must also confirm a registered email address and that the company's intended future activities are lawful.

If you miss it

There is no automatic penalty, but the company and its officers can be prosecuted and Companies House may begin compulsory strike-off, which can freeze the bank account and vest assets in the Crown.

Thresholds, rates and deadlines quoted here reflect the 2026/27 UK position. Check current GOV.UK guidance, or ask us, before you rely on them for your own company.
