Every UK employer must automatically enrol eligible jobholders, broadly those aged 22 to State Pension age earning over £10,000 a year, into a qualifying pension scheme, with minimum total contributions of 8% of qualifying earnings, of which at least 3% comes from the employer.
The Pensions Regulator requires a declaration of compliance within five months of your duties start date, and re-enrolment plus a re-declaration every three years. Penalties start with a fixed £400 notice and escalate daily for larger employers.
