Overseas founders and landlords

UK company for non-residents: 100 questions answered

You can own and run a UK limited company from anywhere. What decides whether it works is tax residence, a bank account, Companies House identity verification and knowing which UK filings you owe. These 100 answers cover every question overseas founders and non-resident landlords ask us, with our published fixed fees so you can see the cost before you enquire.

Start with your situation

Setting up from abroad

Forming a UK limited company when you live outside the UK: who can be a director, what you need, how long it takes and what it costs.

Registered office, ID and compliance

Addresses, Companies House identity verification, Authorised Corporate Service Providers, confirmation statements and the ECCTA duties that apply from overseas.

Banking and payments

Opening a UK business bank account without living here, the alternatives when a bank says no, and getting paid in multiple currencies.

Tax residence and permanent establishment

Where your company is taxed when it is managed from abroad, central management and control, permanent establishment and double tax treaties.

Corporation tax, VAT and filing

Corporation tax, VAT registration for overseas sellers, accounts and the filings a UK company owes wherever its owners live.

Paying yourself from abroad

Director fees, salary, dividends, withholding tax and whether a non-resident director must file a Self Assessment return.

Non-resident landlords and UK property

The Non-resident Landlord Scheme, tax on UK rent, property held in a company, capital gains and ATED for overseas owners.

What we charge overseas owners

The same published prices as everyone else: fixed monthly packages from £89 plus VAT, rising to £169 and £289 plus VAT as bookkeeping, VAT, payroll and reporting are added. One-off filings are fixed price, and Companies House fees are charged at cost with no VAT added.
