Lenders, landlords and the Home Office often want a qualified accountant to confirm your income. This hub explains what each certificate says, what evidence it rests on and what we can and cannot sign.
Can my accountant provide a certificate for a mortgage application? Yes, we can complete an accountant's certificate confirming income figures that match your filed accounts and tax returns, usually on the lender's own form. We certify what the records support; the lending decision itself always remains with the lender.
Can an accountant certify a profit projection for a mortgage lender? We can prepare or review a profit projection and confirm the assumptions are consistent with the trading history and reasonable given known contracts, but a projection is always a forecast, not a certified fact, and lenders treat it accordingly.
What is an income certification letter and can a chartered accountant provide one? An income certification letter is a short signed statement confirming your income for a stated period, cross-checked against filed accounts, CT600s or self assessment returns. We provide these where the figures are supported by records we have prepared or reviewed.
Can my accountant provide a reference for a visa application? We can confirm figures and facts that are evidenced in accounts, tax returns and company records we hold, such as income, shareholding or trading history. We cannot certify eligibility or predict a Home Office decision, which follows the published guidance for the specific route.
Can an accountant provide a letter confirming a director's investment for the Innovator Founder route? We can confirm that funds identified as director's investment have been received into the company bank account and recorded as capital introduced in the accounts. We do not assess whether that investment satisfies Innovator Founder eligibility, which is a Home Office matter.
Rates, thresholds and deadlines quoted here reflect the 2026/27 UK position and current Companies House and HMRC guidance. Check GOV.UK, or ask us, before relying on them for your own company.

Keep bank statements, sales and platform reports, purchase invoices, payroll records, VAT workings, finance agreements and Companies House correspondence. We confirm the exact list at onboarding and identify gaps before a filing deadline becomes urgent.
The fee depends on transaction volume, record quality, VAT and payroll requirements, historic catch-up and the level of reporting needed. We agree a fixed scope and price before technical work starts, with published packages available on our fees page.
