Short answer

A business accountant keeps the statutory filings correct and turns the records into figures an owner can act on. Our work covers accounts, tax, VAT, payroll and reporting, scaling from an annual compliance service to monthly management information.

Compliance first, then clarity

Filings are the floor, not the service. Once accounts, tax and VAT run reliably, the useful conversations start: margin by product or client, the real cost of a hire, whether cash allows an investment, and what the tax bill will be before it lands.

Suited to owner managed businesses

Most of our clients are owner managed companies between start-up and a few million in turnover, across services, trades, technology, e-commerce and property. That is where a single accountant covering compliance and advice adds most value.

Getting started

Send your last accounts or a short description of the business, and we confirm the scope, the fixed fee and the first deadlines. If you already have an accountant we handle the clearance and the handover.

Before you act

Rates, thresholds and deadlines quoted here reflect the current UK position and current HMRC and Companies House guidance. Check GOV.UK, or ask us, before relying on them for your own business.

Frequently asked

Business accountant: questions directors ask

What does a business accountant actually do?

Maintains or reviews the records, prepares and files tax and statutory returns, runs payroll and VAT where agreed, and explains what the numbers mean for decisions.

Do I need one if I use accounting software?

Software records transactions, it does not judge whether they are right, claimable or correctly taxed. Most owners still need review, filing and advice.

Can you act for more than one of my companies?

Yes, including group structures and holding companies, with a combined fee across the group.

Do you work with sole traders as well as companies?

Yes, though most of our clients are limited companies.

How do you charge?

A fixed monthly fee against an agreed scope, so you are not charged for asking a question.

What do your packages cost?

Published packages start from £89 plus VAT monthly, with £169 and £289 plus VAT tiers for busier businesses. The final fee follows the agreed scope, not an hourly estimate.

Do you only work with London businesses?

No. We act for businesses across the UK online, and work locally with owners in London, Morden, Croydon, Sutton, Wimbledon, Mitcham and Surrey.

Can you take over from my current accountant?

Yes. We request professional clearance, collect the accounting and tax records, review every approaching deadline and manage the handover so no filing is missed.

Is basic tax advice included?

Routine day-to-day questions are included. Technical calculations, written advice, planning projects, HMRC disputes and specialist claims are scoped and agreed before any work starts.

How quickly can I get a fixed fee quote?

Use the short online quote form with your turnover, VAT, payroll and bookkeeping position. We can normally confirm scope and a fixed monthly fee the same working day.

What Our Clients Say

Rated 4.9 out of 5From 302 Google reviews
Accotax have been our accountants for many years now. We maintained them because of their professionalism. In the last couple of years I have been working with Imran, who has been very professional and helpful in guiding us through the whole process, explaining and clarifying every aspect of it. Very prompt in responding to questions and patient with us even when we seem to be slow.
Mansur Liman · Long-standing company client
We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we're really glad we did. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing, professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.
Mael Leboucher · Year end accounts & bookkeeping
I've been working with Accotax since January 2024, and their support has grown alongside my business needs. My personal allocated manager, Umer, provides tailored services for both of my companies, adapting as I expand and ensuring everything runs smoothly. They are responsive, knowledgeable, and always clear in their communication. Their help with accounts, VAT, payrolls, pensions and compliance gives me real confidence and peace of mind.
