The cost of limited company accounts and a CT600 depends on bookkeeping quality, activity and complexity. Our monthly packages start from £89 plus VAT and include the agreed annual compliance. An exact quote follows a review of records, deadlines and any tax adjustments required.

What annual accounts and a CT600 contain

Statutory accounts report the company's financial position and performance under UK accounting standards. The CT600 reports taxable profit, reliefs and Corporation Tax to HMRC, supported by accounts and a detailed tax computation.

Why accounts profit and taxable profit differ

Depreciation is usually replaced by capital allowances, some client entertaining is disallowed, provisions and losses have tax rules, and associated companies can affect thresholds. The CT600 computation reconciles accounting profit to taxable profit.

Filing and payment timetable

Accounts are usually due nine months after year end, Corporation Tax nine months and one day after the period end, and the CT600 twelve months after. The payment therefore falls before the return deadline, which is why early preparation matters.

What increases the year-end cost

Missing bank reconciliations, mixed personal spending, unresolved director's loans, stock, foreign currency, platform settlements, multiple trades and overdue periods all add work. We identify these issues before agreeing a fixed fee.

How to keep the fee under control

Use a separate business bank account, capture invoices promptly, reconcile sales platforms gross to net and ask before making unusual transactions. Monthly bookkeeping usually makes the year end a review rather than a reconstruction.

Frequently asked

Limited company accounts and CT600 cost: questions directors ask

Is the CT600 filed with Companies House?

No. Statutory accounts go to Companies House. The CT600, tax computation and accounts go to HMRC.

Can I file company accounts online myself?

Some simple companies can use official online services, but directors remain responsible for the accounting treatment, disclosures and tax return being correct.

What records are needed for a CT600?

Complete bookkeeping, bank statements, sales and purchase records, payroll, VAT, asset purchases, loans, prior returns and details of unusual transactions.

Does a dormant company need a CT600?

Companies House dormant accounts are usually still required. HMRC may not require a CT600 after accepting the company is dormant, but any notice to file must be answered.

What happens if company accounts are late?

Companies House issues automatic civil penalties, and repeated late filing can double the penalty. Further consequences can apply if directors continue not to file.

Can you complete overdue accounts and tax returns?

Yes. We first establish every missing period, records available, penalties and the order in which filings should be corrected.

Can you take over from my current accountant?

Yes. We obtain professional clearance, collect the accounting and tax records, check every approaching deadline and manage the handover without interrupting filings.

Can the whole service be handled online?

Yes. Records, approvals and meetings can all be handled securely online. Clients near London can also meet our team at 12 London Road, Morden by appointment.

Is basic tax advice included?

Straightforward day-to-day questions are included. Technical calculations, written advice, tax planning projects, HMRC disputes and specialist claims are scoped and agreed separately before work starts.

How quickly can I get a fixed fee quote?

Complete the short online quote form with your turnover, VAT, payroll and bookkeeping needs. We can normally confirm the scope and fixed monthly fee on the same working day.

We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we're really glad we did. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing, professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.
